Wash and detailing

A wash is part of the visit, not a job card. The advisor flags a vehicle for a wash at intake, and whoever does the wash updates one status on the repair order. The wash queue, the technician fallback, and the advisor dropdown all read and write that single field.

The detailer wash queue

If your site has a detailer, they work a site-scoped wash queue from My Jobs. Every detailer at the site sees the same queue; there is no per-wash assignment.

  1. Open the wash queue from My Jobs.
  2. Arrived vehicles that need a wash sit at the top. Vehicles expected today but not yet arrived show below as dimmed previews you cannot action yet.
  3. Open an arrived vehicle and update its wash status.
  4. Processed washes pin to the bottom of the queue.

You can only wash a car that is here

The status sheet stays unavailable until the vehicle has arrived. Carryover cars that arrived on an earlier day still rank in the queue until they are washed, because they still need washing before pickup.

Update the wash status

Tap a status to record the outcome of your work. As the performer, you record Done or Unable to Wash. The other statuses are advisor and lead decisions set from the repair order card.

Wash status chips

You can attach an optional note and photo or video as evidence. While the note is empty, tapping a status applies it straight away. Once you type a note, your status choice stages and the Save button commits the status and the note together in one write.

Evidence shows on the repair order

A wash note or wash photo surfaces as a wash card on the repair order overlay for the advisor. A status change with no note or media leaves only a line in the activity log.

When there is no detailer

At a site with no active detailer, the assigned technician updates the wash from the job page instead. The same fallback applies when a detailer marks the wash Detailer away, which hands the wash back to the technician.

The control appears on the job page only when the site offers a wash, the repair order includes a wash, the vehicle has arrived, and either the site has no active detailer or the status is Detailer away. Openhood works this out for you, so there is nothing to configure.

Wash is repair order state, never Work Carried Out

Updating the wash sets the wash status on the visit. It is not a Work Carried Out entry and not a task, so it never appears as work logged against a job card.
