Working offline
Workshop signal is not always reliable. The app is built to keep you working through a short drop and to be honest about what it can and cannot do while offline.
The offline banner
When the app loses connectivity, a banner appears at the top of the screen. It shows that you are offline and how many actions are waiting to sync. When the connection returns, the app replays the queued actions and the banner clears.
Visible queue, no double-entry
The pending count is there so you do not re-enter work wondering whether it saved. Let the banner clear rather than redoing an action.
What queues and replays
The offline queue is for a small, allowlisted set of safe internal actions, the device-shell work the native app owns. Queued actions are held in order, retried automatically when you reconnect, and expire if they sit too long unsent.
What does not happen offline
The queue is intentionally narrow. It will not silently carry out anything that reaches a customer, moves money, or changes who is signed in.
- No customer-facing sends, such as messages or quotes to a customer.
- No financial or billing actions.
- No sign-in or session changes.
Anything that leaves the workshop waits for a connection
Customer sends and financial actions never queue. If you need to do one of these, do it once you are back online so nothing goes out on a guess.
What is not stored on the device
To keep a lost or stolen phone from leaking workshop data, customer names, phone numbers, and emails are never held in the app's offline cache. Only the recent, assigned job data you need to keep working is kept, and it is cleared when you sign out.
If something will not sync
If the banner keeps showing queued items after you are clearly back online, check your connection and give the app a moment to retry. The queue replays on its own when connectivity is steady.
